TRACR: our blockchain verification process
TRACR is the blockchain traceability platform developed by De Beers Group to trace diamonds from mine to retailer. Pimento Diamonds is one of the few B2B players in Europe to offer TRACR-verified diamonds to its professional clients. Here is how our verification process actually works.
Each TRACR diamond receives a unique digital identifier from the moment of extraction. Critical data — weight, dimensions, color, clarity, shape — are immutably recorded on the blockchain at each transformation stage: rough sorting, cutting, polishing, laboratory certification. This data chain is cryptographically secured and impossible to falsify.
On the Pimento side, our team verifies the consistency of each TRACR record with the physical laboratory certificate (GIA, IGI or HRD). We also perform cross-verification of the stone's biometric data (spectroscopy) where technology allows. The final client receives a unique QR code providing access to their stone's complete history in seconds.
